Sixteen members of the Meghalaya Deaf Association participated in the 7th All India Conference of the deaf held in Assam recently.
The four-day conference that concluded on May 21 included a host of rights-based activities including presentations and discussions on various topics concerning the rights of persons with hearing and speech impairment.
The event was organised by All India Federation of the Deaf (AIFD), New Delhi, and hosted by the Assam Association of the Deaf (AAD), Guwahati.
The MDA in a press release has urged the Meghalaya government to support the association in organizing such events in the State in the coming years so as to create awareness about the rights of persons with speech and hearing impairment.
