As part of the field study tour of the Meghalaya Civil Service (MCS), trainee officers of the 2025 batch visited North Garo Hills today.
The scheduled visit of the two-day field attachments programme in North Garo Hills slated from May 19 to 20 comprises intensive studies of key office establishments and ground observation of public welfare schemes.
While welcoming the MCS officer trainees, North Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Saini in the presence of the Additional DCs of the district gave an overview of the district’s profile elaborating the establishments, demographic and geographical features.
Saini, in his introductory speech, said field study tours foster understanding of ground realities of various key functionaries and the importance of delivery public services to the people, which are essential for formulating strategic policies in their career as civil servants.
After the briefing programme, the MCS officer trainees inspected the Superintendent of Police’s office, Mendipathar Police Station and Mendipathar Women PS to grasp the scenario of the law and order of the district.
A visit to the Mendipathar Industrial Growth Centre and interaction with the officials of the Varun Beverages Pvt Ltd offered them an insight into the development and business opportunities of the district.
Tomorrow, the MCS trainees will also hold an in-depth analysis of MGNREGS, PMAYG and other central and state-sponsored schemes besides interaction with the offices of District Soil & Water Conservation, Horticulture and the office of the District Medical & Health Officer in order to have first-hand knowledge of the government schemes and programmes.
