All the three miners retrieved from a coal mine in East Jaiñtia Hills district by Indian Navy divers were identified and claimed by their immediate family members from Assam and Tripura even as operations to retrieve others trapped are on.
The three miners are among the five labourers trapped in the 500ft coal mine in Krem Ule, Umpleng after a sudden explosion of dynamite on May 30.
As per official confirmations received today, the first body which was retrieved on June 16 was that of Anowarul Islam resident of Najatpur Katigorah, Assam. The second body retrieved on June 24 was that of Shyam Charan Debberma of 23, Darjiling Para, Gram Sayadchara in Tripura and that of Abdul Sakur of Pingajal, Badarpur in Assam, which was retrieved yesterday.
Meanwhile, Navy divers could not carry out their operations today due to maintenance of diving equipments even as the rescue teams of NDRF ad SDRF continued with dewatering the coal pit which rose to 22 ft today.
During the dewatering process about 8.64 lakhs liters of water has been pumped out from the first shaft and about 16.20 lakhs liters from the second shaft.
