A branch office of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) was today inaugurated in Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills district by Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the district council, Titostarwell Chyne.
Chyne informed that works of the new branch office commenced in 2019 at Rs 1.60 crore.
With seven permanent employees and six casual workers, the CEM said that the first priority of the branch office at Mawkyrwat is to collect professional tax. “We will enhance the function of the office in the future, but I would urge the staff to work with dedication and sincerity and not to attend office only during market days,” Chyne said.
He further said that the executive committee aims to also strengthen the district court in Mawkyrwat.
Deputy CEM, Gigur Myrthong echoed the same view and said growth of the branch office depends on the staff and that their services would enhance revenue collection of the district council.
Executive Members of the district council, Teiborlang Pathaw, Martle N Mukhim, Victor Ranee, Jambor War, Rangkynsai Kharbuki, Mitchel Wankar, Syiem of Hima Maharam Niandro Syiemïong, Myntris, Rangbah Shnongs and others were present on the occasion.
