The Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Meghalaya organised a programme for school students from Shillong to visit labs and interact with scientists about various research areas of bio-resources.
During the event, students of the Kendriya Vidyalaya, Shillong visited the IBSD campus at Upper Shillong to observe different activities of the institute, research laboratories, scientific instruments, orchidarium and available local bio-resources particularly medicinal plants.
IBSD is organising such events under the “Science for Society” program which is initiated by Prof. Pulok K. Mukherjee, Director, IBSD to promote awareness of science and technology and their sustainable utilisation towards development and wise utilisation of local bio-resources.
The students visited the different labs and interacted with scientists of IBSD about the ongoing research on bio-resources including plants, microbes and edible insects.
