The Employment & Monitoring Cell of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), North Khasi Hills district today met with the Dean of the College of Post Graduate Agricultural Centre regarding the relocation of the examination centre from the Central Agricultural University (CAU) in Umiam, Meghalaya, to Guwahati.
The recruitment examinations are scheduled for Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Upper Division Clerk (UDC), and Field Cum Laboratory Assistant (FCLA) on January 3-4, 2025.
The KSU expressed concern that relocating the examination outside the state is discouraging aspiring candidates, especially since those from other states will have the advantage of taking the test within their home state.
The KSU pointed out that the examination centres established by the College of Post Graduate Studies in Agricultural Science in Umiam, Meghalaya, the College of Community Science in Tura, Meghalaya, the College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences in Selesih, Aizawl, Mizoram, the College of Agricultural Engineering and Post-Harvest Technology in Ranipool, Sikkim, the College of Fisheries in Lembuchera, Tripura, and the College of Horticulture & Forestry in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, remain unchanged; only the examination centre for Meghalaya has been shifted to Guwahati.
Furthermore, the KSU argued that since the examination will be conducted offline there is no valid reason to hold it in Guwahati, considering that Umiam has ample space to accommodate the candidates.
The KSU felt that the decision to relocate the exam centre to Guwahati is intended to facilitate candidates from Assam.
