Nongpoh, Jun 4: Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda on Thursday inaugurated ARHI Hospital, a unit of Far East Wellness Pvt. Ltd., at Mawsmai, Jorabat.
The hospital is expected to provide a major boost to healthcare services in Meghalaya by reducing the need for patients to travel to distant cities for specialised treatment. With its state-of-the-art facilities and comprehensive medical services, the hospital is poised to become a key healthcare destination in the region.
Equipped with modern medical infrastructure, such as a comprehensive oncology unit, PET-CT scan services, and critical care facilities, which include a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) the hospital offers six modular operation theatres to handle diverse medical needs.
Addressing the gathering, Nadda emphasised the evolution of India’s healthcare system, particularly concerning the impact of the National Health Policy 2017. He stated that this policy has solidified healthcare delivery mechanisms from grassroots-level sub-centres and health and wellness centres to tertiary healthcare institutions throughout the country. As a result, there has been a significant improvement in healthcare accessibility and outcomes, benefiting citizens in both urban and rural settings, he said.
Nadda commended the ARHI Hospital for bringing advanced healthcare facilities closer to the people of Meghalaya and its neighbouring states. He also reiterated the Government of India’s focused attention on the region and its commitment to ensuring inclusive development through various policy initiatives.
