ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application and Research Institute (ATARI) at Umiam, Ri-Bhoi, has taken a maiden initiative in organising a capacity building programme on ‘Efficient Administrative and Financial Management’ for junior level officers of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and ATARI.
The objective is to update and refresh the skills and knowledge of the administrative and finance personnel in the system.
The training programme, which began yesterday and will conclude tomorrow, has been customised, particularly in the area of budgeting and control of expenditure. More than 50 officials from 43 KVKs across the North East Hill region states – Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura – are taking part.
Sunil Kumar Das, CF&AO and Course Director, ICAR-NIASM, Baramati, Pune, gave an overview of the programme designed by him. He briefly accentuated the objectives and pedagogy of the programme where he also gave a detailed course outline relevant to the job requirement of the KVK staff.
Shefali S Andaleeb, Principal Accountant General (Audit), Shillong, was the chief guest at the inaugural programme. In her deliberation, she highlighted the importance of such capacity building programmes in the changing scenario of administrative and financial management.
She lauded the contributions of ICAR research institutes and the role of ICAR in establishing a sustainable food production system in the country through its unique institutional mechanism starting from technology development, technology assessment and their application in the field. In this context, she also offered for needful capacity building support to ICAR research institutes and KVKs through their HRD experts.
