Occupancy of hospital beds by Covid-positive patients continues to rise in Meghalaya, with the figure now touching 20 percent.
On January 2 just 18 hospital beds reserved for Covid-19 patients in Meghalaya were occupied. That figure increased to 108 on January 16 but now stands at 205.
That means that 20.28 percent of the 1,011 hospital beds set aside for Covid patients are occupied. At the height of the second wave last year, bed occupancy was close to 80 percent.
Hospitals in Shillong account for 184 out of the 205 Covid in- patients. The other 21 are in Nongpoh (one), Jowai (six), Tura (10), Ampati (three) and Baghmara (one).
Those hospitals with double digit figures are all in Shillong – Nazareth (28), NEIGRIHMS (26), Bethany (20), Civil Hospital (19), Supercare (19), Woodland (19), Ganesh Das (13), Military Hospital (12) and Dr H Gordon Roberts (10).
