Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stopped off in Nongpoh on Sunday to campaign for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Marian Maring, saying that the winds of change are blowing in Meghalaya towards the party.
Sarma was on his way to Shillong when he stopped off in Nongpoh. He has also been campaigning for the party in Garo Hills ahead of the February 27 Assembly election.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Maring, Sarma said that the BJP has faith that the people of Meghalaya will give them the mandate to run the state.
“During my two-day visit to Garo Hills, I saw the support of the people and even in Nongpoh the BJP candidate is doing well,” Sarma said, adding that the saffron party’s vision for a developed Meghalaya will bring it to power.
