Like many others who have had their lives upturned by the violence in Manipur, S Chinpu had to flee the troubles and landed up in Pilangkata, a village in Ri-Bhoi.
Today the deacon made a heartfelt appeal to the people of Manipur, urging them to put an end to the ongoing violence, largely between the Meitei and Kuki communities, and strive for peace.
Numerous members of the Kuki tribe have sought temporary shelter in Pilangkata.
Addressing the media today, S. Chinpu, a deacon in the Evangelical Free Church of India, expressed his deep dismay at the prolonged unrest and violence that has plagued his native state. He highlighted the grave repercussions faced by affected individuals, with many having been compelled to seek refuge in other North East states.
“Local residents of Manipur have been uprooted from their homes, forced to flee and find shelter elsewhere due to the escalating violence,” Chinpu said. “To restore normalcy in Manipur, it is imperative that we put an end to this cycle of violence and work towards peace and tranquility.”
