The Deputy Commissioner (Supply) of South West Khasi Hills has directed all government employees or any member of their family, including deficit and ad hoc school teachers, both in urban and rural areas, to surrender their ration cards (PHH or AAY) by May 15.
Government workers are not entitled to rations under the National Food Security Act. Non-compliance, if detected, will be dealt with as per provisions of the law, a notification stated today.
This step is necessary to ensure that these resources reach genuinely needy families, including the poor, daily wage labourers, and persons with disabilities.
