The Garo Hills Youth Organisation (GHYO) has alleged that a primary school teacher who was removed from Gasbari Non-Government Lower Primary School, West Garo Hills continues to attend school.
The case centres on Karimul Islam, who was appointed as an assistant teacher at the school allegedly without following relevant norms, such as having passed the Meghalaya Teachers Eligibility Test (MTET).
The order for his removal was issued by the Director of School Education & Literacy (DSEL), on July 19 after several inquiries was conducted.
However, GHYO president, Nazmul Hashan in a press statement today said, “Islam is still attending the school and as to who is allowing him to teach in the said school, whether it is the Head Teacher Shohidur Rohman or any other authority concerned.”
The organisation said it will seek legal action if he continues to teach in the school and the head teacher or the head teacher or authorities or the School Managing Committee (SMC) or Cluster Resource Person (CRC) concerned should be held liable for disobeying government order and notification.
