The Federation of Khasi, Jaiñtia and Garo Peoples’ (FKJGP) of the Photjaud area has demanded the upgrading of the medical sub-centre at Photjaud War to a Public Health Centre (PHC).
During its inspection today the FKJGP expressed deep concern on the lack of development of the health centre and demanded the government upgrade it so as to provide maximum benefit to the people of the area.
Local FKJGP General Secretary LC Shangdiar said that 17 villages are dependent on the centre that still lacks many facilities.
“It lacks ample toilets, water supply, electricity, medicine supplies and dustbins,” he said, adding that it is also short in cleaners, casual workers and in staff quarters. Shangdiar also urged Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek to intervene in the matter.
