Shillong, May 1: An appeal has been made to the Director General of Police to help in securing justice in the case of the sudden death of a woman from the Pynursla area in Bengaluru recently.
Agatha Ba Ithianghun Khongwet (34) was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her rented accommodation in Bengaluru, raising concerns among family members, friends and the local community.
The deceased hailed from Tangmang village in Pynursla and had reportedly been working with Amazon for over a decade. She was discovered dead between 7:00pm and 7:30pm on Wednesday at her rented room in Hebbal, Bengaluru, where she had been residing with her live-in partner, Nawaz Sharif, a resident of Manipur.
Social worker Edmund Khongngai, who is also a resident of Lapalang in Pynursla, has written to DGP Idashisha Nongrang on behalf of the family.
Khongngai stated that the sudden and unnatural nature of her demise has caused immense shock, grief and suspicion among her family members.
“The family harbours serious concerns regarding the circumstances leading to her death and apprehends that all relevant facts may not have been fully uncovered,” he said.
According to him, being residents of Meghalaya, the family is facing considerable difficulty in pursuing the matter effectively in a distant state.
“In such a situation, the intervention and support of the Meghalaya Police become crucial to ensure that justice is neither delayed nor denied,” Khongngai said.
He has urged the Meghalaya police to liaise and coordinate with the concerned police authorities in Bengaluru to ensure a proper, fair and transparent investigation into the matter.
Khongngai also urged the police to extend necessary assistance to the family in obtaining all relevant documents, reports and updates pertaining to the case. He also wanted the state police to provide guidance and support to the grieving family in pursuing legal remedies available to them.
