A joint operation by West Garo Hills and North Garo Hills police today led to the arrest of two notorious smugglers of fake Indian currency notes and recovered counterfeit currency with a face value of Rs 10.35 lakh.
According to police, these two smugglers had planned to supply the fake currency notes to weekly markets in Garo Hills.
The seizure was made near Bajengdoba on Thursday evening. During random checking, police came across two individuals and a search uncovered multiple bundles of fake Rs 500 notes in their possession.
