Two suspected drug dealers were arrested by anti-narcotics police of Shillong today, one of whom had a cache of ammunition and a firearm.
Acting on credible inputs, police arrested Eldikinstar Sohtun and T James Seiminthang on Thursday evening at Nongshilliang, under Rynjah police station.
A total of 40 soap cases containing heroin weighing 423.09g were recovered from the two accused. Other items that were seized included two mobile phones and one motorbike (ML 05 R 5271). A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against the pair.
Interrogation led Sohtun to reveal the location of the gun and ammunition, which were stored at his residence in Mawpat, which were seized by police today morning. These comprised one country-made revolver, one air gun, seven rounds of live .22 ammunition, six rounds of live .38 ammunition, five rounds of live 12 bore ammunition, one used bullet, Rs 2 lakh in cash, one mobile phone and five vehicles – two Mahindra Thars, one Maruti Zen, one Maruti 800 and one Chevrolet Beat.
