A group of wild elephants on the night of October 16 attacked and destroyed a house and crops in Panchiring village, South West Khasi Hills.
According to information received by M Kharbani, Myntri Shnong Panchiring, he said that a group of wild elephants attacked on the night of October 16 at about 10pm, and in this incident one of the houses of (L) Jestar Syiemlieh was affected as well as crops such as betelnuts and others.
The Dorbar Shnong Panchiring, South West Khasi Hills District is concerned by attacks by the wild elephants which have destroyed houses and crops.
Therefore, on the morning of October 17, 2024, the Dorbar Shnong together with the people went out to drive away the herd of elephants but in their efforts they could not do anything.
Therefore, the Dorbar Shnong has requested the Government to take action against the wild elephants in these areas otherwise the Dorbar Shnong will have to take recourse to other actions.
