The Rally of Arunachal concluded today, with Meghalaya’s Phoebe Dale Nongrum making waves by taking the final podium place in the INRC 4 class.
Nongrum, Meghalaya’s only female Formula 4 race car driver, was making her debut at the Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) and drove for Ammyfied Rally Team in the June 14-16 event. Dr Dinesh S was her navigator.
“The feeling is overwhelming,” Nongrum said. “I have been waiting for a chance to get to drive in the INRC and getting this chance and a podium I still can’t believe I did ít considering the tough drive as it was raining and there were a lot of obstacles on the way. It was an amazing experience, the biggest test for me and I made it through each obstacle. I am super happy with the results.”
The racer said she will now look for further sponsorship to enable her to compete further.
The event showcased the skill and determination of rally drivers across multiple categories, including INRC, INRC 2, INRC 3, INRC 4, Gypsy Class, Junior INRC and Women’s Class.
