Three suspected thieves were arrested in the early hours of today morning by police in Patharkhmah, Ri-Bhoi, with more than 200 litres of diesel fuel in their possession.
At around 3am, a car was intercepted by police in Patharkhmah and six plastic cans after receiving a tip-off and approximately 220-230 litres of diesel were recovered from the vehicle.
Police believe that the fuel was stolen from three nearby Reliance Jio mobile phone towers in Jirang village. The three suspects have admitted to the theft and have formally been arrested, police informed. The trio is also believed to have been involved in similar cases of theft in the district.

The accused have been identified as Marsing (only one name provided) of Mawtari Thaiang and Robren Langi and Rishad Sylliang, both of Umkra.
