In view of surge in Covid positive cases, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh held an urgent meeting today in Tura to discuss about locality-wise mobilisation of people for Covid vaccination.
Officials from the Tura Municipal Board, Executive Magistrates, District Medical and Health Officer, District Immunisation Officer, District Disaster Management Authority, Church leaders, dedicated youth and Covid Management Committees attended the meeting.
Deliberating on the need for lifting of lockdown in the district thereby opening up economic activities, re-opening of educational institutions, etc. the Deputy Commissioner stressed on the need to achieve 100 per cent vaccination and appealed to the officers, community and church leaders to motivate more people to come forward for vaccination.
Giving examples of vaccinated localities in and around Tura, he also asked the Community leaders, Covid Management Committees and the church leaders to adopt strategy to get more people vaccinated and to involve the youth and women groups in convincing the people.
