South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Tableland Lyngwa today held a meeting with tourist spot and home stay owners to chalk out plans, get views and idea s for improvement of tourism in the district.
The meeting was held at the multipurpose hall of the DC’s office in Laitlawsang.
Lyngwa informed that an Adhoc Committee South West Khasi Hills Tourism Development Forum has been constituted and a Tourism Information Centre will be set up to work on ideas on how to attract tourism to the district.
He said tourist guides will be trained while a consultant would prepare the master plan and mapping of tourist spots.
Lyngwa hoped that the meeting will serve as a platform of interaction where views, ideas and suggestions will be taken into account in order to reach the desired target and move forward with an aim to boost tourism in the district.
The meeting was attended by 23 members comprising of tourist spot owners from Umjarain, Mawthawpdah, Iawpaw, Nongnah, Nongsynrieh, headmen and secretaries of Mawranglang, Mawten, Rangmaw, Photjaud, Nongkdait, Nongktieh, Phlangdiloin, Phlangmawprah, Umpung, Mawrap and Nonglang villages.
