There were 226 new cases of Covid-19 recorded in Meghalaya today, with West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills accounting for 91 combined. There were also 177 new recoveries and three fatalities.
Two of the deaths were in East Khasi Hills and one in West Jaiñtia Hills. All three were unvaccinated, the Health Department informed.
East Khasi Hills recorded 64 new cases today, West Khasi Hills 63, West Jaiñtia Hills 38, Ri-Bhoi 31, South West Khasi Hills 28 and two between the other six districts.
There was just one case in the whole of Garo Hills, namely in South West Garo Hills. However, cases are generally lower on a Monday (following the holiday on Sunday) and the government data does not reveal how many tests were carried out in individual districts.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 114 recoveries, Ri-Bhoi 26, West Khasi Hills 10, West Jaiñtia Hills 10, and 17 between the other seven districts.
There are now 1,859 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 779 active cases, West Khasi Hills 418, West Jaiñtia Hills 247, Ri-Bhoi 161, South West Khasi Hills 118, West Garo Hills 73, East Jaiñtia Hills 27, East Garo Hills 11, North Garo Hills 11, South West Garo Hills 11 and South Garo Hills three.
In all, Meghalaya has had 78,359 Covid-19 cases, of which 1,859 are active, 75,141 have recovered and 1,359 have died from the virus. The recovery rate decreased to 95.89 percent. The fatality dropped back down to 1.73 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases rose to 173.57 and climbed for new deaths to 4.29.
