Meghalaya recorded another 15 new cases of Covid-19 today, with 13 of these in East Khasi Hills.
West Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills also reported one new infection each. There was also one recovery, in East Khasi Hills.
The lone case in West Khasi Hills was that of a returnee. In East Khasi Hills one was from the armed/paramilitary forces, one was a tourist, one was an influenza-like illness (ILI) sufferer and one a returnee. The other 10 (EKH nine, WGH one) were discovered through screening.
This is the second time this week that new cases in double digits were reported in the state after 20 students in a Tura school tested positive on Monday.
In all, Meghalaya has had 14,082 Covid-19 cases, of which 64 are active, 13,868 have recovered and 150 have died from the virus. The recovery rate is 98.48 percent. The fatality rate is 1.07 per cent.
Meanwhile, yesterday saw the first members of the general public getting their second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Until 2pm today 190 members of the public had received a second jab. Almost 31,000 ordinary citizens have received a first dose.
