Another person died due to Covid-19 in Meghalaya today, the Health Department informed. Today also saw the total number of coronavirus cases in the state cross the 16,000-mark.
Meanwhile, another 130 cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the state today, with 47 of these being among returnees.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 92 of the new cases – 24 among returnees, two armed forces/paramilitaries, 30 high-risk contacts, one health worker, six influenza-like illnesses (ILIs), six through screening, two in Jaiaw, one in Jhalupara, one in Laban, one in Lumparing, three in Laitumkhrah, one in Mawbah, three in Mawlai, one in Mawprem, one in Nongkrem, two in Nongmynsong, one in Nongthymmai, one in Khyndailad, one in Polo and four in Pynthorbah.
East Jaiñtia Hills reported 15 cases (14 returnees, one through screening), Ri-Bhoi 11 (seven returnees, three ILIs, one through screening), West Jaiñtia Hills 10 (six high-risk, two returnees, two ILIs) and South West Khasi Hills two (both health workers).
There were also 114 recoveries – 78 in East Khasi Hills, 26 in West Jaiñtia Hills, four in Ri-Bhoi, four in East Jaiñtia Hills, one in South West Khasi Hills and one in East Garo Hills.
There are now 1,403 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,021 active cases, Ri-Bhoi 138 and West Jaiñtia Hills 106.
In all, Meghalaya has had 16,124 Covid-19 cases, of which 1,403 are active, 14,560 have recovered and 161 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has fallen to 90.30 percent. The fatality rate is 1.00 percent.
