Twenty of those in the Tura Don Bosco School who were detected with Covid-19 have officially recovered, it was revealed by the Health Department today.
It was on March 29 that 20 students staying in a hostel together and a school driver were said to have caught the coronavirus.
Today’s 21 recoveries (with the addition of one returnee) mean that West Garo Hills’ number of active Covid-19 infections has dropped to six.
East Khasi Hills, however, added 26 new cases today but also saw 18 recoveries. Thirteen of the new infections were among returnees, four among the armed forces/paramilitaries, four high-risk contacts, three tourists, one health worker and one police personnel.
There was also one new case in East Jaintia Hills and Ri-Bhoi. Ri-Bhoi also saw one recovery.
There are now 189 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 156 active cases.
In all, Meghalaya has had 14,273 Covid-19 cases, of which 189 are active, 13,933 have recovered and 151 have died from the virus.
Over 1.46 lakh doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Meghalaya as of today.
