The district and sessions court has granted 10 days for the police to interrogate the arrested HNLC cadre Storgy Lyngdoh.
Storgy was arrested from his house today at Mawlynrei, Shillong few days after he came from Bangladesh.
Police seized two mobile phones from him including ong having Bangladesh SIM Card. Police suspected his involvement in the circulation of extortion demands through WhatsApp ranging from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Rituraj Ravi said that on March 1, received information that Storgy had served demand notes to extort money for the HNLC leading to widespread scare and fear psychosis to a number of businessmen of Shillong.
Storgy is an active member of the HNLC with a close link to the self-styled deputy commander-in-chief of the HNLC. He was also the PSO of A. Hazarika alias Manbhalang Jyrwa, the former self-styled vice chairman of HNLC.
