Raliang MLA, Comingone Ymbon has urged people to be open-minded and cooperate with the government in finding a site to dump garbage from Jowai.

Expressing concern over the inability of authorities in West Jaiñtia Hills to dispose the accumulated garbage at a land offered in Khliehtyrshi, because of objections, he urged people to work hand in hand as responsible citizens of the district with the concerned authorities for the overall betterment of the society and the district.

Ymbon was speaking at a function to distributed cheques under FOCUS programme at Moosyiem ground, Shangpung today.

Ymbon encouraged farmers to make use of the financial assistance provided by the government in a productive manner and to work collectively. He informed that the government through the FOCUS programme is helping the farmers to upscale farming activities and productivity.

He lauded the contribution of the Self-Help Group in the society, saying that since the inception of SHGs, many changes have taken place in the villages such as maintaining cleanliness besides many other activities.

Altogether 175 producer groups were given cheques amounting to Rs 1.18 crore.

Others who spoke were Dr. D.I Kjam, District officer A.H & Veterinary, Jowai, D. D Syngai, Additional Deputy Commissioner and DPO of Planning Branch and Sywell Lyngdoh, District Project Manager, District Basin Development unit, Jowai.
