Shillong, Aug 11: Internationally acclaimed Polish guitarist and composer Marcin Patrzałek has arrived in Shillong ahead of the Meghalaya leg of his Marcin, Art of Guitar Tour 2026.
The concert is scheduled for August 12 at the Lariti Performing Centre, Mawkasiang.
Speaking on arrival, Marcin said he was struck by Meghalaya’s natural beauty. “Even on the drive here, just from the airport, I just couldn’t stop taking videos on my phone through the window, just because of the nature, how exotic it is for me. So, I kind of feel like I’m in a different world right now,” he said.
As part of his visit, Marcin will take part in jam sessions and interactive workshops with students, buskers and emerging artists under the Chief Minister’s Meghalaya Grassroots Music Program, or CM-MGMP. He praised the initiative for providing a platform for young musicians to learn and collaborate.
The show will also feature opening acts by CM-MGMP’s Achiever of the Month – Music Edition, Chegim Durama from Garo Hills, along with Leo Boys from Khasi Hills and Larger Than 90 from Jaintia Hills.
Officials said the visit has been facilitated through a partnership between Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, the Department of Tourism, and CM-MGMP, as part of efforts to link Meghalaya’s music ecosystem with global artists.
Known for blending fingerstyle and percussive guitar with electronic and orchestral elements, Marcin’s performance is expected to add to Shillong’s reputation as one of India’s key live-music destinations.
The Department of Tourism said such collaborations aim to strengthen Meghalaya’s creative economy, create livelihood opportunities for local musicians, and position the state as a hub for music, arts and cultural exchange.
