The decision by the 54th GST Council meeting yesterday to reduce the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on cancer drugs from 12 per cent to 5 per cent has been welcomed by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
“The reduction of GST on cancer drugs to 5 per cent will significantly reduce the cost of treatment and ease the burden on patients. Thank you, FM Nirmala Sitharaman, for this decision,” Sangma stated on X.
It may be mentioned that Sangma had attended the GST Council meeting in New Delhi yesterday where a number of decisions were taken.
The GST Council will take a call on the reduction in rate on medical health insurance at the next meeting in November.
