Rs 15 lakh worth of cosmetics and clothing was seized by the 4th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya yesterday in East Khasi Hills along the international border with Bangladesh.
The items were in the process of being smuggled into the neighbouring country when the BSF foiled the crime.
However, on being challenged by the BSF personnel, the miscreants fled from the spot by taking advantage of inclement weather and darkness. The seized items were handed over to the customs office in Pynursla for further action.
