Parimal Foundation, in collaboration with the Dorbar Shnong of Nartap villag celebrated Daan Utsav, a festival of giving, on the occasion of the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi by distributing books to set up a community library in their village.
The event held yesterday witnessed the contribution of books from NGOs like Goonj, Kankhu Education and Charitable Trust and Parimal Foundation marking a significant step towards fostering a culture of learning and knowledge sharing in the community.
Villagers, local authorities and representatives from the collaborating NGOs attended today’s programme.
The community library will, it is hoped, give all age groups access to information, so that education will not be limited to just children. Ioanis Kurbah, a local teacher, stated that knowledge should be accessible to all and, once it is set up, even nearby villages will be given access to the library.
