The Border Security Force (BSF) organised its Inter-Command Women’s Competition in several sports, with the two-day event concluding here today.
The sports contested were wrestling, boxing, judo, arm wrestling, weightlifting and powerlifting. The events were held at the BSF’s Meghalaya Frontier headquarters in Umpling. Seventy participants from the BSF’s Eastern Command and 50 from the Western Command took part.
State cabinet minister Abu Taher Mondal was the chief guest on the final day in the presence of BSF Meghalaya Insp Gen Harbax Singh Dhillon, Director General of Assam Rifles Lt Gen Vikash Lakhera, Insp Gen Danesh Rana of the Central Reserve Police Force and other officers.
Mondal felicitated the winners in different categories for their extraordinary achievements and hard work. The prize distribution was followed by a vibrant cultural programme presented by students of the BSF School.
Speaking at the occasion, Mondal emphasised the significance of sports in building a robust and healthy society. He further mentioned that such competitions not only showcase physical prowess but also contribute significantly to the mental and emotional well-being of the participants.
