Sei La Sap Football Coaching Centre celebrated its first anniversary today at Marbaniang Umseiniong, Upper Shillong.
The celebration was attended by State veteran shuttler, Pondora Rapsang, who is also the president of the East Khasi Hills Badminton Association, as the chief guest and member of the dorbar shnong Calinroy Marthong.
Speaking on the occasion, Rapsang stressed on sports as a route to free children from substance abuse and the importance of hard work and humility. She lauded efforts of the coaching centre and for dedicating their time to shoulder the responsibility of honing future young talent from an early age.
Marthong acknowledged the need to improve the Madan Iasit ground used by the centre to train its players and assured the dorbar’s support to provide children with the resources to excel in the sport.
General Secretary Willy B Marbaniang highlighted the journey of the coaching centre. In just a year, he said the centre has been able to produce promising players like Aiboklang Jyrwa who was selected to play in the AIFF Youth League U-17 for Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools.
Two other trainee students of the centre, Rishanskhem Langstieh and Raplangki Nongbri were selected to receive advanced training at the Sports Authority of India’s Shillong Centre, he said.
Others who spoke were president of the coaching centre, Banlam J Marbaniang, coach Steward Kharbudnah and others.
