Five Bangladeshi citizens and five Indian nationals were detained by the Border Security Force (BSF) on the Dawki-Amlarem road yesterday.
Acting on specific tip-off, members of the BSF’s 4th Battalion apprehended the 10 after they illegally crossed the international border and entered India at West Jaiñtia Hills, the BSF said in a press release today.
The Bangladesh nationals are residents of Sylhet and Habibganj. On being interrogated, they revealed that they infiltrated with the intention to live in India permanently. The driver of the vehicle was also detained for facilitating their illicit movement.
All the 10 apprehended persons along with seized items were handed over to Dawki police for further legal action.
The BSF has apprehended 26 Bangladesh nationals since January this year for entering the country illegally.
