The Border Security Force (BSF) cycle rally reached Shillong where it was welcomed by Inderjit Singh Rana, IG BSF Meghalaya at the BSF camp Mawpat.
Completing the journey of 665km, starting from Tripura, and after propagating the message of patriotism and fraternity in bordering districts of Meghalaya, the cyclists successfully accomplished their journey in the state and will proceed to Guwahati for their onward destination. The cyclists also interacted with school children, NCC volunteers and youth in several locations along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
The rally will conclude on reaching South Bengal in the coming days after pedaling a total distance of 2,200km. Trans-border crimes and awareness on drugs also remained objectives of the rally. BSF Jazz and Brass band enthralled the cyclists with playing patriotic songs followed by a Cultural programme presented by troops of 193 Bn and 110 Bn BSF.
The IG BSF Meghalaya reiterated that the cycle rally is a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and initiative of the government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75th year of Indian independence. He also emphasized that this rally will spread a message on national integration and patriotism throughout its journey. It will also boost the morale of youths of the country and will encourage them to join the Border Security Force.
