The life of Subhash Chandra Bose was remembered with solemnity and pride here today, the 126th birth anniversary of the Indian freedom fighter.
The Greater Shillong Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Birthday Celebration Committee celebrated the occasion at the State Central Library premises here by garlanding Bose’s statue and with the accompaniment of patriotic song performed by Kinfolk group of Laban.
The programme was started with the hoisting of the national flag by president of the committee, Naba Bhattacharjee. Dignitaries present were Dr. Aman War, Rafle Warjiri, Earnest Mawre, M. Kharkrang, P. D. Chowkani, Bidhan Das, Ram Sevak Singh, president and secretary of Shillong Bengali Student Association.
Members of the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sanhgathan, East Khasi Hills in association with Metallica – Sargam Sports & Cultural Club, Meghalaya Yog Samiti and Meghandini Mahila Samiti, also joined the commemoration.
