Shillong, Jul 31: The Khasi Students Union (KSU), Mawbah unit organized a program to support 40 students of Mawprem Presbyterian Secondary School with school fees, focusing on those from economically weaker families.
Present were KSU Education Secretary Alerick Kharjana, School Principal Theo Laloo, and Mawbah Rangbah Shnong Arisstone Thabah along with other KSU Mawprem circle leaders.
The principal expressed gratitude to KSU, stating that the union had helped 20 students last year and 40 this year. Laloo added that the school, established to serve poor families, charges only Rs. 480 per year for Nursery and Rs. 500 for Class 10.
Kharjana urged students to study hard and remain confident. “This is just a small token. KSU is with you in education and in all issues of the community,” he said.
A cheque was also handed over to the school on the occasion.
