The Society for Urban and Rural Empowerment (SURE) in collaboration with the Jowai Civil Hospital Blood Centre yesterday organized a village-level awareness on HIV/AIDS cum voluntary blood donation camp at the Ummulong Community Health Centre.
The programme was sponsored by the Meghalaya Aids Control Society (MACS).
In its six-year journey, the blood bank at Jowai has been serving the Jaiñtia region and has been supporting three hospitals in Jowai and East Jaiñtia Hills.
Dr P Shylla, Medical and Health Officer, lauded SURE for conducting the programme.
The programme was chaired by Coriniki Slong. Darimika Lywait spoke on the Link Worker Scheme (LWS) while Sunita Sunn spoke on HIV/AIDS.
On this day seven members of SURE also donated blood to the Ummulong CHC.
