The new name of the Dorbar Shnong of Bishnupur-Kench’s Trace has been officially approved by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Hima Mylliem.
The dorbar had, on March 5, adopted a resolution to change the Bishnupur part of the name to Lumshatsngi. However, Kench’s Trace will remain. The resolution was taken after a felicitation programme to welcome the incoming Rangbah Shnong and executive members.
A copy of the resolution was submitted to the KHADC, which approved the name change on Friday. Hima Mylliem issued an order the following day for the name change to take effect.
