A blood donation camp was organised by the Green Valliey Industries (Max Cement) in collaboration with the State Blood Transfusion Council today at Nongsning in East Jaiñtia Hills district.
Altogether 47 People donated blood during the camp which is aimed to encourage individuals to donate blood and save lives.
Waheh Shnong Nongsning Lambha Dhar said the initiative will help the blood bank in Jowai Civil Hospital to meet the requirements and to save lives.
CMD of the GVI, Vineet Agarwal said the need for blood is ever-present, and every year, millions of lives are saved thanks to blood transfusions. Unfortunately, there is often a shortage of blood, particularly during emergencies, he added.
Agarwal said the camp aims to help alleviate this shortage by encouraging more people to donate. He said the company believes that giving back to the community is an essential part of corporate citizen.
