The District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills has promulgated an order under Section 163 of the BNSS prohibiting dumping of soil and debris, as well as throwing of garbage all along the highway from Rilbong Junction towards Upper Shillong and the Shillong-Guwahati highway.
This order was necessitated following receipt of complaints that unauthorised dumping of soil, debris and household waste is being carried out at Umshyrpi (Rilbong Point) towards Upper Shillong and the Shillong-Guwahati Road. Such activities, if allowed to continue, will lead to health hazards and also hamper the execution of roadworks.
Any violation of this Order shall be liable to be prosecuted under Section 223 of the BNS.
This order comes into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further orders.
