The overloaded vehicles are causing damage to portions of the road and pose a danger and threat to villagers, especially pedestrians, due to the narrow width of the road, the order stated.
The order applies to the stretch of the road that falls within East Khasi Hills. Anyone who violates this order will be prosecuted under Section 223 of the BNS. The order comes into force immediately and will remain in place until further orders.
