Shillong, Oct 21: The Hynñiewtrep Youths’ Council (HYC), Umwai Unit along with local residents apprehended one person from Umwai village in Shella Bholaganj block yesterday, on suspicion of being a Bangladeshi national who had illegally entered India.
According to the HYC, the person was handed over to the concerned law enforcement authorities for verification of his identity, nationality and for necessary action as per law.
The HYC also urged the public to remain vigilant, stating that infiltration by Bangladeshis will affect the peace and security of the state and the entire country if not checked.
