The District Legal Services Authority of West Khasi Hills observed World Elder Abuse Awareness Day by organising a legal awareness programme-cum-health screening camp at Mawkadiang Dorbar Hall.
The programme, chaired by L Nongrem, Assistant LADC, aimed to educate elderly citizens about their rights and available social assistance schemes. Key sessions focused on the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act 2007.
Resource persons from the District Social Welfare Office and Block Development Office shared information on government initiatives supporting senior citizens. An interactive session addressed concerns and queries from elderly attendees.
