Shillong, Sep 22: The A’chik State Peoples’ Front (ASPF), Phulbari Regional Unit, has flagged the rapidly deteriorating condition of the Phulbari-Rongram road, a vital link connecting Phulbari with Rongram, Tura and other parts of West Garo Hills.
In a press release, ASPF said several stretches are peeling off, breaking apart and riddled with dangerous potholes, making travel unsafe for thousands of daily commuters, including students, farmers, traders, patients and government employees.
The organisation said the bad road is not just causing inconvenience but risking lives, vehicle damage and accidents, and delaying ambulances and essential services. The road is crucial for trade, education, healthcare and daily economic activity and cannot be left to deteriorate through official neglect, it said.
ASPF has urged the Chief Minister, PWD (Roads) and district administration to conduct immediate technical inspection, undertake urgent repairs without delay, fix responsibility if poor workmanship or substandard materials are found, and ensure quality control and supervision to prevent recurrence.
