Telecom operator Bharti Airtel today rolled out the latest 5G services in Shillong.
The ‘Airtel 5G’ services will be available to customers in a phased manner as the company continues to construct its network and complete the rollout.
Customers with 5G enabled devices will enjoy high speed network at no extra cost and is currently operational at Laitumukhrah, Lapalang, Nongrah, Governor House, Lummawbah, Jaiaw Laitdom, Pines colony (Laban Red Cross), Mawpat, Riat Sohkhlur and a few other locations.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said, “I hope Airtel will be able to cover the rest of the state for people to enjoy high speed internet services and to enable us to provide citizen-centric services in a much better manner and many services like health care, agriculture and other services will also helped by the 5 G services.”
With this launch Airtel said it will continue to commit its digital connectivity journey in Meghalaya which is expected to have far reaching impacts on the lives of the people with India being on the cusp of adopting 5G technology.
The company said it through 5G services it has come up with a range of diverse used cases across such as health care, smart agriculture, logistics and many other sectors.
