Staff of the Air Force Museum from the Eastern Air Command headquarter were trained on cultivation, propagation and management of orchids and other flowering plants by the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) in Upper Shillong.
Participants were acquainted with different types of plant species suitable for different area and seasons and their propagation methods, potting media and management of plants.
The programme was organized under the BioNEST Incubator of IBSD for the skill development through orchid floriculture.
The activities related to the skill development of people interested in floriculture and strengthening their capabilities through training and awareness to promote bioresources associated skill development through sustainable utilization.
Such activities are being held to inculcate skilfulness among various stakeholders through the utilization of local bioresources in the prevailing Meghalaya environment, the institute said.
