Please allow me to express my views and comments on the present Lok Sabha elections 2024. The Election Commission of India in its limited wisdom has organised seven phases of elections to the Lok Sabha throughout the country. This has taken almost two months to complete the massive exercise which has consumed a lot of precious time, resources and energy of the country. This is bound to cause fatigue on all sections of people of the country especially on all those who are actively involved in the elections processes. That is why quite many people of the country are agreeable to support one nation one election every five years.
For quite some time now even the thick skinned politicians in various parties like those on top of parties have shown some signs of fatigue in one way or another like utterances in speeches or on priority issues of public importance. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen to misplace priorities in replies to repeated oppositions’ attacks. The big question now is will he reach the ultimate goal of becoming the third term as Prime Minister of India? The answer to this question is yes, judging from the political situations that prevailed over the last ten years.
As for the ruling BJP it will still do well in Gujarat, somewhat well in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Assam and few in Delhi. In the southern states, BJP may not do well but in Karnataka it will score well except in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. It will do well in Goa, Puducherry and the Union Territories. It will also do well in Maharashtra and get some seats in West Bengal, Orissa, North East region and few in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Then together with the allies and a few seats in Andhra Pradesh the BJP may again storm back to power in Delhi.
As for the INDIA bloc it will somewhat be far short of forming the government in the country. Congress may again have a dry run for the next stint of five years. This is as I see the current political scenario in India.
