South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai along with officials and engineers of the Public Works Department (PWD), Shillong Cantonment Board, etc inspected two road projects including the widening and blacktopping of the link road from the existing PWD Road via Rilbong community hall to Umshyrpi and the construction of an aqueduct channel at Kench’s Trace road from Lumshatsngi Taxi stand, etc.
Speaking to reporters Shullai informed that the PWD has paid a sum of Rs 1.69 lakh for NOC from the defence ministry and soon the construction of the Rs 3.61 crore link road cum bridge from Rilbong to Umshyrpi will kick start.
He said that this road is a short-cut option that will ease traffic jams for the people of greater Laban.
He urged for the cooperation of the residents with the PWD to speed up the two projects before the onset of the monsoon.
He also informed that the aqueduct channel sanctioning amount is Rs 2.34 crore.
